I
started recording my own music a bunch of years ago, just for fun,
and got hooked.
At some point along the line, bands in the Syracuse area started
offering me actual money to record them, and thus a business was
born.
The plan for the new studio was conceived in the spring of 2004.
I wanted to do something really ambitious. I realized there were
no studios around that had spacious facilities and affordable rates.
I had a vision of a place where I could live, have plenty of space
for a killer studio, and a great apartment for my clients. Additionally,
it was my top priority to see to it that the studio had at once
a look and sound of professionalism paired with a very casual and
easy going vibe. (This is supposed to be fun!)
My philosophy of recording is that the studio is where the two
ways of thinking, "left and right brain", come together. To take
someone's art, full of emotion, and somehow push that down a mic
cable into a stream of ones and zeroes is pretty fascinating. I
try and let the technology and physics behind this process be at
the service of where we want to go with the sound and the music.
